Meta.space - Visions of Space from the Middle Ages to the Digital Age

I'm happy to share that I have a chapter in the newly published Meta.space - Visions of Space from the Middle Ages to the Digital Age. This publication complements the exhibition “Meta.space - Visions of Space”, shown at the Francisco Carolinum in Linz.

Quoting the publisher "It brings together scholarly contributions by international authors from various perspectives and disciplines who deal with different aspects of analog and digital spaces in an artistic and/or art-sociological context. The aim is to present a broad, overview-like mood of current scholarly perspectives on space and visions of space. We hope to provide a different building block for grasping the complex phenomenon of 'space' and helpfully commenting on the currently so hotly debated topics of space formation, space perception, and space use in the context of the metaverse debates."

My contribution, "Orangeries, heat sinks, and walled gardens: architectures of microclimates and the metaverse" considers orangeries and garden design as historical precursors to the design of the metaverse and the management of heat generated by computing.
