InLight 2021

Wednesday, 8 September 2021

I can now share the good news that I have been selected to participate in InLight 2021 organized by 1708 Gallery. InLight is an annual exhibition of public art in Richmond, Virginia that started in 2008 and this year will take place November 12-13 at Great Shiplock Park, Chapel Island, and nearby sites along the Virginia Capital Trail and Low Line in Richmond.

I feel especially thankful to the curators Tiffany E. Barber, Wesley Taylor, and Park C. Myers for this opportunity. They have brought together a very accomplished group of artists at a time when Richmond clearly needs new public art to help think critically about its past and speculate about possible futures.

I'll share more in the coming days about my specific contribution, "Phantasmagoria of Progress;" but as the name suggests, it takes inspiration from pre-cinema lightshows and spectres that still haunt the city.
