Primpstar

So my good friends Charlie and Jacqueline over at sukamishi have lauched a beta version of their new website primpstar.com Its kind of like a friendster for beauty and photography professionals. Currently I am one of the featured photographers. So go check it out and if you you’re a photographer, model, stylist, or just interested in becoming one, set up an account. The idea is that this will function as a way for such like minded folks ot meet up.

APCCS site

I’ve redesigned the website for the Americo Paredes Center for Cultural Studies at the University of Texas at Austin. This is my host institution and is currently undergoing a nice shift from traditional folkloric studies to more general Cultural Studies.

Cinematexas 10

The Cinematexas festival of short film and video is back in Austin, TX. This year, I helped out by designing some festival material, including badges, t-shirts, posters, buttons, ads, etc… I haven’t seen much yet, but I did just see Martin Arnold talk in the dark for about an hour.

Love in Ruins

So I’ve been reading William Percy’s book “Love in Ruins.” It takes place in a post-apocolyptic New Orleans. I started it before the demolition of New Orleans by hurricane Katrina, so it seems all the more prophetic. Then again wasn’t New Orleans already post-apocolyptic. Isn’t the rest of the South already in ruins? What is the difference between holing up in a functioning motel and an abandoned motel? Maybe it’s just the price.
